Job Description

Winter 2026 semester

 

The Computer & Video Game Archive (CVGA) is seeking three Student Assistants for the Winter 2026 term to support the daily operations of the archive from Wednesday, January 7 - Tuesday, April 21 2026.

 

.  Here are the hours of operation:  

Monday – Thursday: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Friday: 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

 

Closed on the following dates:

  • Monday, March 2nd - Friday, March 6th (Winter Break)

 

This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a wide range of video games, consoles, and library services in a dynamic and engaging environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service by assisting visitors with inquiries and circulating games.
  • Test and maintain donated games and equipment to ensure functionality and preservation.
  • Tech support and troubleshoot older game systems and equipment as needed.
  • Provide support during class sessions held in the CVGA, including setup and troubleshooting.

  • Develop skills in restoring both modern and vintage computers and consoles
  • Enhance your knowledge of the video game and media industry
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to support and articulate the CVGA’s mission.
  • Ability to communicate with larger groups, such as during tours.
  • Attention to detail.
Hourly Rate $16.00/hour
Hours 5.0 to 12.0 hours per week
