Job Description
The Region V Public Health Training Center (RVPHTC) at the UM School of Public Health seeks a Multimedia Assistant to help carry out their related missions of workforce development in public health.
 
The RVPHTC serves a national audience, with a focus on Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota and is part of a federally-funded regional training collaborative. Our training offerings cover a range of public health topics and can be viewed at www.rvphtc.org.
 
Responsibilities will include building out course pages for e-learning, assisting the training team with video production for online training development, audio editing for podcasts and other uses, and creating infographics and other imagery. Multimedia created in this position will be used in courses, microlearnings, promotion, and marketing for training initiatives. The position may require other duties as assigned. This position may be underfilled at the Media Assistant I level depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
Educational Value

Training Development: The multimedia assistant will contribute to the design and development of many media components which will enrich training courses for professional audiences. They will also learn about matching appropriate training activities to training goals.

Media Production: Contribution to the conceptualization of media and practice applying design on real-world projects are great creative opportunities for this position. We like having polished products, but also welcome working outside the box with new ideas.

Communications: Training design is an effort spread across a team, so the multimedia assistant will learn how to communicate and work with team members with different roles. Effective communication is essential in meeting timelines and successful product outcomes.

Project Team Member: The multimedia assistant will have the opportunity to both exercise existing expertise in media design by reviewing courses and suggesting solutions, as well as learning new skills in editing and software packages.

Job Requirements

Master’s student in Media Arts or related field. This position will require attendance of virtual project meetings as needed. Student must have their own working computer if working remotely and possess a willingness to learn new skills and software. Strong visual design, communication skills, and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines is essential. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud are necessary and familiarity with additional software (Articulate, Canvas, Canva, Camtasia) is preferred.
