Job Description

U-M School of Kinesiology Social Media Internship

The University of Michigan School of Kinesiology Marketing & Communications team is offering two internship opportunities for the Winter 2026 semester. Please carefully review the job description, expectations, and requirements below. 

General responsibilities: 

We’re seeking interns who are U-M School of Kinesiology students, preferably, and have a desire to educate and engage audiences about the Wolverine experience, working alongside the school’s social media manager.

Interns will cover various school events, create reels that highlight life at the School of Kinesiology, and proactively identify opportunities for photo and video content, in addition to other assignments from the social media manager. They will also create social media content that spotlights the university from a student perspective while maintaining brand guidelines.

Interns must be able to:

- Ideate and create social media content independently and in collaboration with the social media manager, including identifying content opportunities and popular trends that can be adapted for the school’s channels.
- Pitch content ideas to the social media manager.
- Work with the social media manager to identify video and photo opportunities, including event coverage and general building imagery.
- Capture and edit photos and videos, with an emphasis on vertical video, in a timely manner.
- Be available to attend at least one on-campus filming session each week while classes are in session. 
- Make regular on-camera appearances during weekly filming sessions.
- Work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Meet deadlines, work both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate attention to detail.

Educational Value

Experience working with the school's social media manager to educate and engage audiences. 

Job Requirements

Requirements:

- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Must be comfortable appearing on camera in university content shared across multiple social media platforms.
- Must have experience using design and editing software, such as Canva, Edits, CapCut, and similar tools.

Hourly Rate $16.00/hour
Hours 1.0 to 10.0 hours per week
