Employment/Counselor Opportunity: MPulse Counselor

MPulse Counselors are responsible for the orientation and supervision of MPulse students in the residence halls, as well as the planning and implementation of community building activities for MPulse students. MPulse Counselors will be paid a stipend for their service, as well as be provided with room and board throughout their time in MPulse. Full Time: June 17 – August 1, 2026 (2 days off 24 hour period)

Assignment Duration: 7.5 weeks including a mandatory training period June 17-20

Compensation: $500 per week, plus room and board

Reports to: MPulse Camp Director and MPulse Assistant Camp Director 

Interview Timeline: This posting will remain open until all positions are filled. Interviews for this position will take place between March-April 2026 and will be conducted virtually via Zoom. 

Positions Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming environment for all participants and families.

• Be an inclusive, supportive, collaborative and solution oriented counselor team member.

• Act as a mentor and role model for MPulse participants.

• Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for participants and staff.

• Abide by all University of Michigan and Children on Campus policies and procedures, making participants the first priority.

• Follow all directions given by direct supervisors, which include hall director, camp director, MPulse Program Manager, and Engagement & Outreach Director.

• Abide by the MPulse Counselor Handbook policies and procedures.

• Direct and proactive supervision of MPulse participants.

• Execution of evening activities and events as assigned by the Hall Director.

• Opportunity to observe program instruction.

• Participation in Welcome and Checkout days.

• Reside in U-M residence hall at all times unless approved by camp leadership.

• Post-program clean-up of MPulse supplies and materials in Residence Halls:

  • Dispose of all trash.

  • Ensure all MPulse materials are removed.

  • Collect all indoor and outdoor directional signs.

  • Collect all recycled materials and other donated items.

  • Store all supplies and equipment in the Youth and Adult Program Offices

  • Carry out all directions given by Camp/Assistant Directors and E&O Staff

Eligibility

• Current sophomore standing or higher at time of application, current U-M students and alumni preferred.

• Experience in the arts preferred

• Experience working effectively with different communities and cultures; experience working directly with faculty, staff and students.

• This position involves traveling to various locations across campus for program needs and delivering materials.
