Job Description

U-M Library Learning & Teaching has an opening for a Student Audiovisual and Technology Assistant to provide front-line support for our study areas, meeting rooms, instruction rooms, and event spaces. The position will require regular morning shifts, performing routine rounds with potential for some afternoon/evening event support. Exceptional customer service is required. Some audiovisual and computer knowledge is required and training will be available.

Under supervision of and training provided by Library Outreach & AV Services.

Provide professional and excellent customer service to a diverse range of U-M students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Assist with room equipment inventory and maintenance - including cleaning tables and whiteboards, ensuring technology is operational, and equipment is where it needs to be.

Occasionally rearrange furniture to accommodate event needs.

Under the direction of regular Tech/AV staff, set-up, operate, and support AV systems in the Library. 

Provide on-site support to faculty, staff, students and members of the community. Daily tasks include cleaning study areas and meeting rooms, restocking supplies, Test and set-up equipment such as video projectors, wireless microphones, PA speakers, audio mixers, video systems, troubleshooting basic computer operation on Windows and Macs, laptops and desktops .

Communicate AV equipment issues and additional requests to the Outreach Tech/AV team.

Time expectations: For Fall 2025 semester, you’ll be working daytime shifts around your class schedule.  High probability of schedule changes for future semesters (based around your class schedule), including evenings after 5pm and very rarely on weekends.

Other duties as assigned.
