The Program on Intergroup Relations (IGR) is a social justice education program that blends theory and experiential learning to facilitate students’ learning around social group identity, social inequality, and intergroup relations. We conduct assessment, evaluation, and research to improve our programs and advance the field. As part of the program’s portfolio of work, through the National Intergroup Dialogue Institute (IGD Institute) and the IGR consultations program, we offer opportunities for higher education professionals from across the country to learn more about intergroup dialogue – its origins, process, pedagogy and methods with the ambitious hope that they will create permanent opportunities for intergroup dialogue and/or dialogic learning on their own campuses. With over 20 years of consultations and as we approach almost 20 years of the National Intergroup Dialogue Institute, during this year we are engaging in a research initiative to assess the impact of our work over the years and incorporate the findings in order to better refine our programmatic strategies and enhance the overall quality and effectiveness of our offerings. We are looking for a graduate student who will work with our research team to support this project that has experience with qualitative interviewing as well as basic data management, and who is eager to learn new skills related to research and assessment. We ask for a 5-10 hour time commitment per week for the remainder of the 2026 winter semester and 2026 fall semester.
