Position Overview


The Entrance Services Assistant plays a key role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-organized entry environment for patients, visitors, students, and staff at the School of Dentistry. This role is ideal for students interested in criminal justice, ROTC, public safety, healthcare security, or emergency management who are seeking hands-on experience with patient and visitor entry support, situational awareness, and customer service within a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as the first point of contact at designated entrances
  • Greet and direct patients, visitors, students, and staff in a professional and courteous manner
  • Monitor entrances for appropriate access and report concerns as needed
  • Assist with wayfinding and basic information requests
  • Support adherence to building access protocols and safety procedures
  • Communicate effectively with appropriate individuals regarding entrance flow or concerns
  • Maintain a calm, professional presence in high-traffic or fast-paced environments
  • Document and report incidents or unusual activity per department guidelines

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications

 

  • Must be currently enrolled and eligible for Federal Work-Study
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Coursework, training, or strong interest in:
  • Criminal Justice
  • ROTC or Military Science
  • Public Safety or Emergency Management
  • Strong situational awareness and attention to detail
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to de-escalate situations calmly and respectfully
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to follow protocols
Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
