Digital Accessibility Assistant Join Judaic Studies in an effort to improve digital accessibility! We are seeking motivated students to serve as Digital Accessibility Assistants, supporting faculty in updating Canvas course sites and enhancing digital materials to work towards U-M's accessibility requirements by April 2026. Training available via U-M resources. Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with faculty during scheduled working sessions to update syllabi, slides, PDFs, forms, and other course materials for accessibility. Offer one-on-one assistance to faculty for both on-site and virtual assistance. Review and revise digital content on Canvas course sites to meet accessibility standards using tools such as Grackle and Panorama. Advise faculty on best practices for accessible course design and digital document creation (Google Suite, PDF editing, document structure). Use campus resources, including U-M Digital Accessibility website, attend training sessions, and consolidate training resources for departmental use. Conduct training or workshops in coordination with the Digital Accessibility Program Office, LSA Tech Services, and/or ITS as needed to increase faculty awareness and skill in digital accessibility. Document and track accessibility improvements. Time Commitment:8-10 hours per week beginning February 2026; additional hours may be available over Spring/Summer for continued employment. Regular working sessions will be scheduled throughout the Winter semester, but work scheduling will be coordinated based on availability. |
