This position provides students with meaningful, hands-on professional experience in a structured and supervised university recreation setting. Students develop strong customer service and communication skills through daily interaction with peers, faculty, staff, and community members. They gain experience working in an operational environment that emphasizes professionalism, attention to detail, and responsibility. Students also learn transferable skills including time management, teamwork, conflict resolution, and situational awareness. Through training and mentorship, students are introduced to basic principles of risk awareness, facility operations, and inclusive community engagement. Experience with point-of-sale systems, policy communication, and front-facing service prepares students for future roles in recreation, education, hospitality, public service, and student leadership. |
