SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT INTERN

Content Creation & Development (45%)

  • Work with the Student Development and Career Initiatives (SDCI) Comms team to promote the Hub’s programs, services, and events

  • Lead the creation of engaging social media content for events and campaigns to increase brand awareness

  • Proactively brainstorm/offer ideas for social media projects/opportunities

  • Schedule content to be published on social media at ideal times

  • Assist with monitoring the social media channels and activities

  • Manages the Hub’s social media content calendar alongside Communications Specialist

 

Administrative Support (20%)

  • Delegate creation of visual graphics for social media to graphic designers via project management platform (ClickUp).

  • Manage the Comms Team meeting calendar, take notes during Comms team meetings, and share meeting summaries via email

 

Navigation Services Delivery (30%)

  • Hospitality: Triage guests at the Navigation Desk and create a welcoming atmosphere for all LSA Building & Hub guests

  • Ambassadorship: Provide information and resources to LSA departments and units, current and prospective students, alums, and employers via assistance with Hub events

  • Data Collection: Deliver service evaluation assessment to students and document guest engagement to inform Hub programming improvements

 

Intern Program Administrative Work (5%)

  • Attend Intern Cohort meetings and professional development sessions during the academic year

  • Complete Work & Development Planning journal

  • Identify and execute individual professional development

  • Support Hub Outreach via staffing at tabling events, etc

  • Fulfill additional job trainings on an as needed basis

This role will allow you to lead and collaborate on projects within the realm of digital marketing, content creation and strategy, campaign planning, and you will offer valuable support for the team’s daily operations.

Who You Are:

Someone who:

  • Will be a current U-M student in the 26-27 academic year

  • Has experience or has demonstrated commitment to serving the diverse interests and backgrounds of LSA students

  • Has an awareness of resources that contribute to LSA student success (advising units, mentorship programming, organizations that facilitate connections to internships, etc)

  • Has experience working or demonstrates a desire to work in collaborative environments, where communication and adaptability are essential to being an active team member

  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and grow, even if you don't meet every requirement

 

Requirements for Employment: 

If hired, you will be required to:

  • provide evidence of authorization to work in the United States.

  • complete a mandatory self-guided virtual training during August 2026. 

  • attend a mandatory on-campus training the week of August 24, 2026.

  • attend weekly intern training sessions on Tuesdays from 4-6pm.

  • attend the annual Intern Program Celebration in April 2027.

  • work 12-15 hours per week, mainly during Hub business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm ET)

  • complete the Work & Development Planning Process and conduct regular performance check-ins with your supervisor.

  • complete professional development activities.

  • maintain “Good Academic Standing” according to the university’s most recent record.

 

Role-Specific Required Qualifications

  • Interest in pursuing a career in communications, marketing, social media, writing, or similar industry

  • Demonstrable experience brainstorming, drafting, and planning social media content

  • Very comfortable being in front of the camera to produce quick, low-fidelity video content

  • Stays up-to-date on social media trends, thinks creatively, and actively follows brands and personas online

  • Self-starter; takes initiative on projects and works proactively

  • Possess the three C’s: strong communication, coordination, and collaboration skills

Hourly Rate $17.00/hour to $18.00/hour

End Date At the end of Winter 2027 semester with the option to continue into Spring/Summer 2027 and the following academic year
