STUDENT EXPERIENCE & NAVIGATION SERVICES [GRADUATE] INTERN

 

Navigation Services Development (40%)

  • Mentor intern cohort on the execution of Navigation Services processes

  • Interpret Navigation Services data to identify process improvements and training opportunities

  • Assist with seasonal schedule creation for intern cohort

  • Collaborate with Nav Desk Coordinator to update process resources and associated training tools for staffing of the Navigation Desk

  • Deliver digital hospitality through email forums

  • Co-design creative engagement opportunities with the Hub that leverage the facilities of the LSA Building

 

Navigation Services Delivery (30%)

  • Hospitality: Triage guests at the Navigation Desk and create a welcoming atmosphere for all LSA Building & Hub guests

  • Ambassadorship: Provide information and resources to LSA departments and units, current and prospective students, alums, and employers via assistance with Hub events

  • Data Collection: Deliver service evaluation assessment to students and document Hub guest engagement to inform Hub programming improvements

 

Intern Cohort Program Management (25%)

  • Maintain program guideline resource materials and progress tracking

  • Assist facilitation of bi-weekly Intern meetings with a focus on professional development topics

  • Develop and execute intern cohort events per the Hub Events process, with a focus on wellbeing

  • Spearhead adoption of project management software (ClickUp) by Intern Cohort

 

Intern Program Administrative Work (5%)

  • Attend Intern Cohort meetings and professional development sessions; fulfill job trainings

  • Complete Goal-Setting and Performance Reflection

  • Identify and execute individual professional development

  • Support Hub Outreach via staffing at tabling events, support development of social media content, etc.

What You Will Learn:

The Student Experience & Navigation Services Intern Role is ideal for students interested in working in program management, operations, user experience, and event planning in any industry. You will refine your skills in customer service, consulting, program evaluation, and project management, while centering equity, inclusivity, access, and building community among employees.

Who You Are:

Someone who:

  • Will be a current U-M student in the 26-27 academic year

  • Has experience or has demonstrated commitment to serving the diverse interests and backgrounds of LSA students

  • Has an awareness of resources that contribute to LSA student success (advising units, mentorship programming, organizations that facilitate connections to internships, etc)

  • Has experience working or demonstrates a desire to work in collaborative environments, where communication and adaptability are essential to being an active team member

  • Demonstrate a strong desire to learn and grow, even if you don't meet every requirement

 

Requirements for Employment: 

If hired, you will be required to:

  • provide evidence of authorization to work in the United States.

  • complete a mandatory self-guided virtual training during August 2026. 

  • attend a mandatory on-campus training the week of August 24, 2026.

  • attend weekly intern training sessions on Tuesdays from 4-6pm.

  • attend the annual Intern Program Celebration in April 2027.

  • work 12-15 hours per week, mainly during Hub business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm ET)

  • complete the Work & Development Planning Process and conduct regular performance check-ins with your supervisor.

  • complete professional development activities.

  • maintain “Good Academic Standing” according to the university’s most recent record.

 

Role-Specific Required Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Student

  • Experience providing feedback, especially to peer groups

  • Experience in customer service roles

Hourly Rate $24.00/hour
Hours 12.0 to 15.0 hours per week

Start Date Early August 2026
End Date At the end of Winter 2027 semester with the option to continue into Spring/Summer 2027 and the following academic year
