Job Description

Rebecca Copeland, MPP, MPH ’21, was deeply committed to improving health, health care and social justice. She brought enthusiasm and excellence to analysis of important health policy issues and inspired those alongside whom she worked. We honor her memory by offering this internship to a University of Michigan graduate student in public policy or health policy who is dedicated to the ideals that Rebecca epitomized.

About the Internship
We seek a high-achieving individual who is thoughtful and analytical, with interests and experiences in health policy analysis. This is a full-time paid internship, with flexible start and end dates, for a graduate student who has completed at least one year of coursework in public policy or public health. The work will be focused on relevant, timely health policy issues. The intern will be responsible for elements of health policy and research projects that align with the mission of the Center for Health and Research Transformation (CHRT).

The following functions are in the scope of the internship:
• Research and analyze health policy issues related to: social determinants of health and health equity; access to care; health care costs and utilization of services; behavioral health

Educational Value

Gain hands-on experience researching and analyzing timely health policy issues, including health equity and access to care.
Develop practical skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, literature reviews, and drafting policy briefs.
Strengthen communication abilities by presenting findings and writing reports for diverse audiences.
Build professional networks and clarify career goals through mentorship and collaboration with experienced policy experts.

Job Requirements

Qualifications for Preferred Intern Candidates
• Obtaining Master’s degree in public policy or public health with a focus on health policy
• Knowledge of key health policy issues
• Experience with health data sources or experience with health care research or other analytic methodologies
• Excellent writing, organizational and interpersonal skills.

Hourly Rate $23.00/hour
Hours 29.0 hours per week
