Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Line Cook/Crew Member to join our Team at our new location at U of M Campus in Ann Arbor. Training will take place at our sister location on Ann Arbor Saline Rd, In Ann Arbor, MI.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation, experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, and stellar customer service experience. A Crew Member will be involved in all aspects of the preparation, cooking, packaging of food and one on one with the customers in this food court style service location.

Duties:
• Prepare and cook menu items in compliance with established recipes and standards
• Recipe Adherence: Follow standardized recipes to prepare and assemble components for various menu items, ensuring consistency, top notch presentation and quality.
• Organization: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including proper storage of prepped ingredients, to facilitate an efficient kitchen workflow.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the kitchen team, communicating effectively to coordinate the preparation of ingredients based on the menu requirements.
• Quality Control: Conduct visual and sensory checks on ingredients to ensure freshness and quality, reporting any concerns to the kitchen manager.
• Sanitation and Food Safety: Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper handling and storage of ingredients, to maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
• Cleanliness and Sanitation: Adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation standards, keeping workstations, utensils, and equipment clean and organized. Follow proper food safety protocols. Assist with Dish station as needed.
• Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels of prepped ingredients, notifying the kitchen manager of any shortages or excesses.
• Efficiency and Time Management: Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet the demands of a fast-paced kitchen, especially during peak hours.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with crew to coordinate cooking times for various menu items and contribute to a smooth location workflow.
• Assist customers by welcoming, educating them on food, assist them in placement of orders and delivery there order in a timely and accurate manner.

Skills:
• Proven experience as a Line Cook in a restaurant or catering environment
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.)
• Understanding of food safety practices
• Ability to follow recipes and portion control guidelines accurately.
• Excellent knife skills and ability to operate kitchen equipment
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with the kitchen team effectively
• Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Expeditor Experience preferred
• A strong sense of urgency coupled with a keen eye for accuracy.
• Accomplishing company goals set by owners, and ability to adapt to change.
• Working with Team Members on upselling, driving sales, and customer service techniques.
• Creating high standards for guest experience, to drive high customer loyalty.
• Nurture a work environment that promotes teamwork, performance feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy facility environment
• Working with BOH Management and Catering Director on catering order executions.
• Assist in the training and development of staff.
• Cash and Drawer management
• Point of System experience is preferred.
• Order placement as needed through various partners.

Job Requirements

Graduation from high school, Kitchen experience and customer relationships are a huge plus.

Hours 10.0 to 20.0 hours per week
Compensation $15.00/hour to $17.00/hour
