Job Description

Join our dynamic research team investigating traumatic brain injury (TBI) in emergency medicine. As a non-Work Study Student, you’ll gain hands-on experience in clinical research, patient interaction, and sample processing. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in medicine, neuroscience, or clinical research careers.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Screening: Assist research staff in identifying eligible patients according to study protocols. Review medical records and communicate with the clinical team to determine eligibility.
  • Patient Enrollment & Consenting: Support the enrollment process by approaching patients and families, explaining study procedures and requirements, and obtaining informed consent while maintaining sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Sample Processing: Collect, label, and process biological samples (e.g., blood, saliva) following strict protocols. Ensure samples are stored appropriately and documentation is completed accurately.
  • Data Entry & Documentation: Accurately enter patient and sample information into secure databases. Assist in maintaining research logs and files.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, research staff, and other team members. Attend team meetings, trainings, and contribute feedback for continuous improvement.
  • 10–12 hours per week (flexible scheduling; mornings, afternoons, or weekends as needed)

Job Requirements

  • Strong interest in clinical research, medicine, neuroscience, or related fields.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially in a clinical environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow ethical guidelines.
  • Attention to detail, organizational ability, and reliability.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting; prior healthcare or research experience preferred, but not required.
  • Must complete all required training for human subjects research.
Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
