The Office of the Associate Vice President for Campus Sustainability at the University of
Michigan is looking to hire a student assistant to support communications needs within the
department. The person in this role will help draft messages, update communications
tracking and other documents, make updates to the Planet Blue and Office of Campus
Sustainability website, and perform other office and communications-related duties. The
ideal candidate should have excellent communication and writing skills first and foremost,
as well as showing strong initiative and being a good team player.

Educational Value

Student assistant will:

  • Gain experience working in higher education and learn about the fields of communications, marketing, and executive leadership and strategy.
  • Gain experience working within a dynamic, fast-paced team environment and gain exposure to executive-level processes that span the entire institution.
  • Gain exposure to the processes involved in making and implementing complex decisions within a large and varied organization.
  • Develop transferable communication and project management skills by working with a diverse group of professionals, across different disciplines.
  • Gain knowledge about various forms of documentation and the related procedures for gathering, storing, consolidating, and presenting information.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google workspace.
