I am an established Ann Arbor small business owner (U-M alumnus, BSChE) entering my 31st year in business, and I am seeking a reliable student assistant - preferably from the Ross School of Business, or related colleges. My work includes managing two personal homes rented primarily to U-M graduate/PhD students, as well as operating a licensed and insured residential building and premium handyman/repair service. I have completed over 160,000 repairs and improvements and 8,000+ service calls in the Ann Arbor area. Role Overview: This is a hybrid role combining administrative and business support with hands-on fieldwork. Supporting business operations, including: 1) Profit/loss tracking and basic financial organization 2) QuickBooks support (ideal for business students) 3) Assistance in getting information processed with a tax-related professional organization Assisting with maintenance and improvement projects (painting, yard work, minor repairs). Supporting on-site service work (holding, organizing, and handling tools; general job-site assistance), helping me manage rental property administration and special projects Running errands, sourcing materials, shopping (in-store and online), and conducting product research. Providing input and opinions on purchases and solutions. Exposure to civil suit / small claims processes. Contributing to additional projects, including the development of a private Sports Cards and Game Club. Qualifications: Dependable, punctual, and able to show up independently. Comfortable with hands-on tasks and occasional physical labor, including assisting me with moving heavier items when needed. Willingness to learn, Strong work ethic, and ability to adapt to a wide range of tasks. Interest or experience in business/finance/QuickBooks is necessary. Compensation & Perks: $15 - $18/hour + bonus opportunities; Complimentary $10 - $15 meal for shifts of 4+ hours (if we work longer, I will not send you home hungry.) Potential raise after a 30-day trial period. Transportation back to campus is available at the end of the workday.
