Job Description

Job Description: The Edward Ginsberg Center is seeking a PhD student to coordinate the Center’s marketing, communication, and storytelling in order to promote the benefits and opportunities of community-university partnership and celebrate the work of Ginsberg Center and its on and off-campus partners. The Marketing Coordinator will manage and contribute to the execution of engaging marketing content across a range of platforms and mediums, including but not limited to: social media, GC website, email newsletters, outreach and promotional materials, photography, video, digital signs, etc. This role manages a small staff of student marketing assistants who support the coordinator in completing marketing projects. Deepen your project management skills and your knowledge of community engagement while working with a dynamic team! 

 

Job Duties

  • Communicate with Ginsberg Center’s professional staff to gather updates on upcoming initiatives that need marketing support

  • Utilize project management tools to coordinate the scheduling of content across platforms (ex: social media, GC website, newsletters, digital signs, photography, video)

  • Coordinate the completion of marketing tasks/projects by delegating projects/tasks to student marketing assistants

  • Manage and support student marketing assistants to ensure work is completed effectively and on time 

  • Coordinate with professional staff and student marketing team ensure that all marketing aligns with the GC brand and visual identity

  • Refine the internal process that staff use to request marketing support and that marketing staff use to solicit submissions from staff.

  • Assist in the strategy and planning of Center-wide marketing campaigns

  • Serve as a backup for student marketing staff, to ensure that projects are completed on time 

  • Support Center-wide website updates and maintenance

 

Location & Hours

  • 15 hours a week

  • Must be able to work half your hours each week onsite at Ginsberg Center during our regular business hours (8am-5pm). Remote work is possible for the remaining hours.

  • Remote work is also possible during summer. 

  • Occasional travel to on-campus events. Some weekend/evening availability may be needed.

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled doctoral student at U-M (from any academic discipline).

  • Able to work in this role for at least three consecutive semesters.

  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to: accomplish multiple tasks autonomously, complete tasks by deadline, and develop clear project plans

  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to give and receive feedback, ask clarifying questions, and ask for help.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based setting with diverse groups  

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous successful experience in a coordination role

  • Proficiency with social media and Meta platforms, particularly Instagram and Facebook.

  • Experience with website content management systems, and/or project management tools (ex: Asana)

  • Previous experience supervising students is preferred, but equivalent experience will be considered

  • Demonstrated experience with written communication for a variety of audiences and outlets, such as blogs, newsletters, reports, or social media
