Job Description

This position is located in Wolverine Wellness. Wolverine Wellness works across campus to improve student health and well-being, helping students navigate the ups and downs of life, make thoughtful choices that reduce harm, and find meaning and purpose during their time on campus. Responsibilities include:

  • Develop written, photographic, and video content for Wolverine Wellness social media on topics including holistic well-being, alcohol and other drugs, nutrition, sexual health, and more 

  • Inform the strategy and maintain a content calendar, scheduling platform, and other related duties to ensure our social media consistency and effectiveness

  • Review analytics and provide monthly social media engagement reports

  • Assist in creating messaging and collecting student feedback to inform print and digital communications, including campaigns and newsletters

  • Help disseminate educational campaign materials through marketing channels such as Diag boards, digital signs, table tents, Happening @ Michigan calendar, and more

  • Update website content to educate students about relevant health and well-being topics

  • Promote and educate on well-being resources through outreach events such as tablings or interactive workshops

  • Support the development of communications in response to current public health issues

  • Provide support to the Wolverine Wellness communications team and office administration

Educational Value

Students working in this role will gain valuable experience collaborating with a professional communications team on health and wellness issues and using a range of media and messaging channels. 

 
Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled as a U-M undergraduate or graduate student

  • Work-study preferred

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams

  • Ability to speak publicly and have interpersonal interactions with students

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Classwork in relevant field, e.g., public health, social work, communications, sociology, higher education, information science, gender and health

  • Knowledge of or interest in student health and well-being issues, including social justice and health equity

  • Familiarity with project management tools, such as kanban boards and/or Trello 

  • Experience with editing videos using Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Experience with website content management systems, e.g., Drupal, WordPress

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour to $17.00/hour
