Job Description

This position will include research in the Biomedical Photonics Laboratory working on lab organization (50-80%) and on a mentored research project (20-50%) closely with the PI and Sr. Research Specialist. 

Duties will include:

  • Organizing, inventorying, and documenting lab equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
  • Archiving, inventorying, and organizing current and past project documentation such as lab notebooks, relevant research literature, and digital data files.
  • Chemical disposal and equipment disposition.
  • Perform routine lab procedures, operate lab equipment, and record test data.
  • Write and develop SOP's with clear and detailed instructions.
  • Documentation of work via regular summaries, and written or digital lab notebook
  • Work may include assisting with human cell culture, human tissue work, biophotonics experiments, calibration and maintenance of lab equipment, 3D printing, and fixture design.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:

  • Attention to detail
  • Desired time commitment of 4-8 months

Experience in some or all areas below is highly desirable, but not necessary:

  • Past exposure to/experience with biomedical or biophotonics research
  • Biophotonics research that may include work on prototyping/designing laser or LED fiber optic light systems and light detectors for pre-clinical application
  • Dell culture experience
  • Monte Carlo photonics modeling
  • 3D image-based design experience using Materialise software or Solidworks (or similar software)
Hourly Rate $18.00/hour to $20.00/hour
Hours 20.0 to 29.0 hours per week
