Job Description

Tennis Coach position:

Blue Sky Tennis, a local sports based youth development non-profit, is hiring quality part time tennis coaches. Our mission is to provide opportunities to play tennis in under-resourced communities and provide health and well-being through tennis. Our programs are based in Washtenaw County, Michigan with the majority of programming in Ypsilanti. The primary focus of this position is to coach and facilitate on-site program delivery. Coaches will need to ensure that proper safety guidelines and standards are maintained while providing a fun experience in addition to facilitating social emotional learning/life skills principles.Coaches need to have proficiency in basic tennis skills and be comfortable teaching those skills to youth. All equipment and training needed is provided.

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

-Provide tennis coaching in a positive, fun group environment with as much individual attention as possible.

-Utilize the USTA’s Net Generation curriculum to provide tennis instruction/coaching to youth participants ages 5 -17

-Coach in a team environment, coordinating responsibilities with other instructors.

-Deliver leadership/life skills activities and reinforce themes.

-Model and provide life skills and leadership for all participants.

-Be a good communicator, self-starter and a leader at all times.

-Model and act with respect towards all participants, fellow staff and parents.

-Respect all Blue Sky Tennis equipment and supplies.

-Assist with equipment set up prior to class and take-down after class.

Requirements:

-Proficiency in basic tennis skills and be comfortable teaching those skills to youth.

-Complete USTA SafePlay certification, training, and background checks as required.

-Candidates must have a reliable vehicle that can transport equipment to and from sites.

-Candidates must be over 18 years of age to be a lead instructor/coach.
