Job Description

UM Women in Science and Engineering hosts an annual summer camp called Girls in Science and Engineering (WISE GISE) for one week from June 15-19. We are hiring 6 camp counselors/program assistants to participate in the day to day running of our week of STEM fun. This is a short term position, with around 10 hours of paid training and then one week of working 8:30am-5:30pm.

Since this is a temporary 40 hour a week position, you cannot work at another job during the week of camp. However, you are welcome to have another job (e.g. research on campus) that you return to the following week.

WISE GISE counselors work in groups of two managing 20 campers with support from WISE staff. Campers are rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders, 12-14 years old. We spend the week between Central and North campuses, going on lab tours, doing experiments, exploring campus, and generally having a good time and making our campers curious, empowered, and excited about a career in STEM. A separate staff of faculty and students will handle the instructional duties. Our camp counselors are there to ensure the safety of our campers and build a supportive community during their week. We would love to have you join our team leading the next generation of STEM scholars!
