Job Description

The Business+Tech initiative at the University of Michigan is looking for a creative, organized, and motivated Social Media & Content Creator to help capture and tell the story of one of the most innovative tech communities on campus.

The goal of our social media is twofold. We want to increase brand awareness through fun, engaging content that prioritizes humor and education. Additionally, our social media also drives program participation, as we often create campaigns to promote upcoming events and competitions. This role will help showcase programs such as the Tech Innovation Jam, hackathons, startup initiatives, and industry events, while building a strong digital presence that engages students across the university.

Key Responsibilities

1. Social Media Strategy
Develop and execute social media campaigns that promote programs, events, and initiatives (e.g., Tech Innovation Jam). This includes planning messaging, identifying key moments to capture, and organizing content into a consistent posting schedule.

2. Content Capture
Attend events and activities to collect high-quality content including photos, videos, and interviews with students, faculty, and industry partners. Help document the energy and impact of the Business+Tech community.

3. Content Production & Editing
Edit and produce engaging content for social media platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, and other channels. This includes video editing, photo editing, graphics, and short-form storytelling.

Application Process

Applications are due by Friday, April 10th.

  • Submitting resume/CV

  • Sample of graphic design work (preferably a social media graphic, link to a social account or can also be a flyer)

  • Short answer (<200 words) of “What tech content would you want us to post, and why?”
