Job Description and Duties: Manage listings for events, courses, co-curriculars and volunteer opportunities listings on the UM Impact Roadmap.  Keep items up to date.  Involves WYSIWYG block work in Wordpress with design templates and embedded Google spreadsheets.  Training will be provided. The temp will ease the burden of work of the Marketing Director, with whom the temp will consult. Gain valuable web experience designing in the ubiquitous Wordpress environment. Some work in Squarespace and another WYSIWYG tool possible in the future. Also, aid with populating B+I website from time to ime. In the process, the student worker will pick up on the pulse of social impact and sustainability activities across the U-M campus. Duties as the gatekeeper and content manager for the University's only single-source website of current impact opportunities for students. Valuable resume material.

Duties include

  • webpage layouts
  • image sizing for web designs, including uploading images and sizing them in Adobe Photoshop
  • placing and formatting existing text from various sources, and correcting grammatical errors
  • working in tandem with the Marketing Director to develop new text content
  • organizing workflow, and tracking completion of work
  • entering SEO content into pages using Yoast for Wordpress

Work Hours

Any time between 8:30 AM - 5 PM Monday-Friday

 

Educational Value

Gain valuable web experience designing in the ubiquitous Wordpress environment. Some work in Squarespace and another WYSIWYG tool possible in the future. Additionally, the role offers exposure to social impact and sustainability initiatives across the U-M campus. Valuable resume material.

Job Requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Interest in social impact programs 
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong grammar skills
  • Experience in WordPress
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
  • Some SEO experience
  • Knowledge of basic html and css
