Job Description

Student will work with physician-scientist mentor and senior lab staff studying regeneration of the kidney after kidney injury in vivo and developing bioengineered systems to study kidney regeneration. Student will be responsible for performing genotyping PCRs, assisting with mouse colony management, helping with routine lab activities (making buffers, performing gel electrophoresis, preparing for experiments), and assisting with other activities as needed. The student will start part-time at the end spring semester 2026 then, assuming adequate performance, continue with expanded hours through the summer of 2026.

Educational Value

Student will gain exposure to the research environment, learn basic lab skills, and can apply classroom training to real-world research problems. With good performance and experience there will be opportunities for additional research activities and inclusion in research publications to facilitate applications for medical school and/or graduate school.

Job Requirements

Student must be willing to work with mice.

Student must have some basic lab experience (through course work or prior experience) and an interest in biomedical sciences.

Though the position offers flexibility, the student must be able to meet weekly deadlines for required work. Ability to keep detailed, accurate records is essential.

Student must be able to work 30-40 h/wk most weeks from May – August 2026.

Possibility to continue through academic year working 5-10 h/wk.

Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
