Can you hold an audience of 500 people spellbound with your charisma and on-stage presence? More importantly — would you like to learn how to? Michigan Housing is looking to recruit student presenters to deliver the short presentation about Housing to incoming students and their parents prior to coming in the fall. The student team will have 3 members in total rotating between 2 students co-presenting in the morning and 2 assisting with tabling in the afternoon. Orientation runs July 7 - August 29 (Mon-Tues, Thurs-Sat), with a few variations sprinkled in. The team will choose in advance what dates they can cover based on their schedules, and can expect to cover at least 20 out of the 24 presentations. The presentation takes place in the morning, with an on-site time requirement between 9:30-10:30 a.m., with opportunities to be present for resource fair times in the afternoon between 3-4:15 p.m. Orientation is a hugely popular program, with audiences that range from 100 to more than 600 people. As a result, this job is an excellent training ground for anyone interested in honing their public speaking and communication skills. Training for the role will begin in-person at the end of May/beginning of June. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS At least one semester living in Michigan Housing. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in public speaking preferred, particularly in front of parent and/or student audiences. Candidates can come from any field of study. |
