Job Description

Summer Tech Camp Instructor / Counselor – iCode Ann Arbor This is a hands-on summer role working with kids (ages 6–15) in structured tech camps including coding, robotics, game design, and content creation. You will lead or support a classroom—not just supervise it. This is not babysitting. There is real structure, real training, real expectations, and real responsibility. We provide the curriculum and training—you are responsible for delivering it and running the classroom. Responsibilities include: - Leading or supporting week-long camps (Minecraft, Roblox, robotics, coding, etc.) - Showing up 30 minutes early to prepare the classroom and materials - Running a structured, on-time, well-managed classroom - Delivering lesson plans and helping students complete projects - Managing student behavior, engagement, and transitions - Maintaining a clean, organized, and professional classroom environment - Communicating professionally with parents as needed - Reporting any student or safety issues to management Strong summer staff may have the opportunity to continue as part-time instructors during the school year.

Educational Value

This role provides hands-on experience in leading a classroom, managing groups of students, and delivering structured instruction. Employees will develop practical skills in communication, leadership, problem-solving, and working with children in a professional environment. This is especially valuable for students interested in education, engineering, computer science, psychology, or youth development. Strong performers will gain experience running a classroom independently and may have the opportunity to continue as instructors during the school year.

Job Requirements

- College student or strong upperclassman preferred - Comfortable working with children ages 6–15 - Reliable and able to commit to scheduled camp weeks - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to manage a group and maintain classroom structure - Willingness to learn and deliver structured tech-based curriculum (training provided) - Must be punctual, prepared, and professional - Must be able to pass a background check

Hours 29.0 hours per week
Compensation $16.00/hour to $20.00/hour
