Job Description

We are looking for two undergrad student mentors for our week-long summer day camp for high school students.  Students selected to serve as mentors for the camp will receive compensation ($26/hr) and training.  The camp will be held from August 10-14 , 8:30 am-4:30 pm each day. Our campers will be learning about optics, plasma/plasma applications, lasers, and fusion through a combination of hands-on activities, lectures, tours, guest speakers, and more.  Our student mentors will act as guides and teachers to our campers and are integral to the success of this program.  There will also be the opportunity for student mentors to participate in the development of program activities if they are interested.  

Educational Value

Camp mentors will gain teaching and communication skills, as well as experience developing educational programs and activities. 

Job Requirements

Students should have a background in Physics or related science/engineering discipline (chemistry, nuclear engineering, etc) and a geniune interest in working with high school students.  Succesfull applicants will have experience working with K-12 students as well as experience with teaching/tutoring. 

Hourly Rate $26.00/hour
