Job Description

Provide support services in the planning and execution of center initiatives and educational activities; assist with institutional research, evaluation, and data collection efforts; support the identification, organization, and synthesis of materials that inform program development and decision-making; assist with logistical coordination related to meetings, events, and center activities; support tracking of effort, expenses, and outputs associated with defined projects; and contribute to routine operational functions that enable effective center operations.

This position will provide hands-on support for communications, marketing, analytics, and operational strategy across both the Michigan Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education (CIPE) and RISE (Research. Innovation. Scholarship. Education.). The intern will help translate priorities from each unit into clear, well-executed materials and activities that support day-to-day operations as well as larger initiatives. Working closely with staff across both units, the role will contribute to planning, execution, coordination, and evaluation of work that advances visibility, alignment, and impact.

On a practical level, the intern will support a wide range of activities, including e-newsletter content gathering and assembly, social media calendar management and post creation, basic graphic design, website maintenance, copywriting for promotional materials, and event promotion. The role will also assist with communications planning, spreadsheet and content tracking, digital file and folder organization, photography support, interviews, and general administrative and operational tasks that keep CIPE and RISE functioning smoothly.

In addition, the intern will support analytics and reporting efforts across platforms by helping track engagement, reach, and performance of communications and programs. This includes preparing routine analytics reports, identifying trends or gaps, and offering suggestions to inform adjustments to strategy and execution. The intern will also contribute to storytelling and strategy development by supporting content ideation and synthesis across initiatives such as RISE Advise, the RISE Innovator Development Program, the Education Engagement Workshop Series, the IPEC Community of Practice, and HPE Connect. The position is designed to be flexible and responsive, balancing day-to-day support with contributions to time-bound, mission-critical initiatives across both units.

Educational Value

This role offers hands-on experience in coordinating cross-functional initiatives within a large academic health system, with a strong emphasis on collaboration across teams and stakeholders. The position builds project management skills through involvement in planning, executing, and tracking multiple concurrent initiatives, while also developing the ability to translate strategic priorities into actionable deliverables. Learners will gain experience in generating awareness and driving engagement across diverse audiences, supported by practical exposure to analytics, performance tracking, and data-informed decision-making.

The role also fosters technical and creative skill development through work in digital content management, basic graphic design, and multi-platform coordination. Overall, the position provides a well-rounded foundation in managing projects, synthesizing information, and contributing to the effective delivery and evaluation of mission-driven programs.
