Job Description

The Engineering Center for Student Organizations (ECSO) is committed to creating equity-centered future leaders through student organization engagement. ECSO seeks a Student Organization Program Assistant to assist our staff in supporting the College of Engineering student organizations.

This position may perform some or all of the following duties:

Student Organization Support

  • Must be comfortable responding to office emails related to work focus area with accurate information.
  • Review affiliation applications and email confirmation of acceptance.
  • Create and send informational and marketing materials to student org leaders.
  • Provide entry-level advising for student organization leaders on topics such as effective delegation, having difficult conversations, and registration.
  • Provide administrative support for student organization requirements (check-in meetings, forms, applications, etc.)

Marketing and Data Analysis

  • Design visually appealing and informative flyers to promote events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Assist in the review of current student organization data to highlight the impact of ECSO.
  • Assist in updating ECSO's annual report.
  • Develop slides and leadership content for effective communication to student org leaders and members.
  • Monitor student org due dates and follow up with organization leaders to ensure compliance.

Event and Workshop Support

  • Provide support through planning, organizing, and executing an annual End of Year Celebration for student organizations.
  • Facilitate and deliver leadership content to organization members in collaboration with professional leadership staff.
  • Evaluate feedback data to improve leadership training material and develop content to address learning gaps.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • Current U of M undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • An active or previous member of a U of M student organization.
  • Have strong oral and written communication skills, including presenting and facilitating content.
  • The ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in computer software (Adobe, Google Suite, Canva, Canvas, etc.).
Hourly Rate $16.00/hour to $17.00/hour
