Job Description

The Youth Policy Lab is seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to help with several projects related to college student basic needs insecurity and community- and campus-based support programs. 

Responsibilities will vary based on the student’s skills and interests, but may include: 

  • Contributing to the design of quantitative analyses (e.g., quasi-experimental approaches such as propensity score matching or randomized controlled trials) 
  • Supporting qualitative research, including coding and synthesizing interview or focus group data 
  • Interpreting findings and helping translate results into clear, actionable insights 
  • Collaborating with a data analyst by helping to define research questions, analytic plans, and priorities 
  • Contributing to written products, including research reports and academic manuscripts 
  • Participating in project meetings with practitioners and education leaders and helping ensure research is relevant and accessible to practice

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate is someone who: 

  • has training in quantitative methods (e.g., regression, causal inference, or experimental design) and/or qualitative methods
  • is proficient with Stata and Excel, and has completed advanced statistical coursework, 
  • is highly organized, 
  • has excellent technical communication skills and can explain research to a range of audiences, 
  • is comfortable working collaboratively and helping guide project direction, 
  • is interested in research that advances equity in education by supporting underserved populations 
  • The position is open to Master’s and Ph.D. students with the requisite interests and skills. 
Hourly Rate $35.00/hour to $37.50/hour
Hours 10.0 to 20.0 hours per week
