Job Description

Marketing Assistant 2026-27

 

The University of Michigan School of Public Health Marketing and Communications Team is hiring a Marketing Assistant for the 2026 - 2027 academic year. We are seeking a positive, detail-oriented and hardworking individual with an interest in marketing and communications to build their skills and expertise while supporting Michigan Public Health’s strategic communications and marketing goals. 

 

The Marketing Assistant will work closely with multiple members of the school’s Marketing and Communications Team on email marketing, website maintenance, and data reporting and analytics to support both internal and external email communication efforts.

Applicants should have strong writing and proofreading skills, with an interest in learning to use multiple tools for email marketing, website maintenance, and marketing data collection.

 

In this position, you will take the lead on email marketing content and design for internal and external audiences, responding to simple website maintenance tickets, and gathering marketing data. This position will work closely with various stakeholders at the school to develop your interprofessional skills, collaborate on marketing strategy, and learn about several aspects of marketing and communication work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the drafting and building of a bi-weekly internal newsletter for faculty and staff. You will collaborate with several team members on content selection.

  • Support content development and design of marketing emails for prospective School of Public Health students.

  • Manage simple website maintenance tickets and assist with larger website updates that require collaboration with school partners. 

  • Draft and edit email marketing and website content to match the tone and brand of the University of Michigan School of Public Health.

  • Inform marketing and communications strategy by collecting and reviewing email marketing, digital advertising, and social media metric data. Support reporting dashboards needs and help contribute to identifying trends. 

  • Utilize project management tools to look ahead at upcoming tasks, provide updates on tasks, and collaborate with other team members.

  • Attend virtual meetings relevant to assigned projects and responsibilities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Please note that no prior experience using email marketing platforms or website management tools is needed and training will be provided.
