The University of Michigan School of Public Health Marketing and Communications Team is hiring two current or incoming School of Public Health students (bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree) to serve as Brand Ambassadors for the 2026-27 academic year. We are seeking creative, collaborative, and hardworking team members with a particular interest in social media storytelling to help elevate Michigan Public Health’s brand awareness. The Brand Ambassador position is a 5-hour-per-week position that requires regular on-campus work to capture photos and video at School of Public Health and U-M events and locations. Editing, planning, and other tasks may be completed remotely. The Brand Ambassadors will report to the Social Media and Content Specialist, and will work closely with additional members of the team to support the school’s marketing and communications strategy. Applicants should have experience in social media content creation and video production, including content planning, capturing and editing, with an interest in engaging a variety of audiences. In this position, you will appear on camera and conduct interviews with students, faculty and staff from the school and university community to capture content for videos. The Michigan Public Health Brand Ambassadors will gain significant experience in brand management and content creation through their work with a high-functioning, collaborative team that supports the crucial mission of the School of Public Health. Brand Ambassadors will leave the role with a professional portfolio and hands-on experience across the full content lifecycle — from strategy and production to distribution and audience engagement. Responsibilities: Partner with the Social Media and Content Specialist to create social media content for prospective and current student audiences. Pitch ideas and recommendations for social media posts and campaigns. Develop content capture plans, including production schedules and scripts. Conduct both scheduled and spontaneous interviews with students, staff, and faculty. Brand Ambassadors will appear on camera frequently. Capture B-roll photography and video. Edit video into engaging content tailored to target audiences. Optimize content for appropriate platforms: Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Threads, and LinkedIn. Recruit School of Public Health students to appear in videos. Attend School of Public Health and U-M campus events to capture photos and video for Michigan Public Health platforms, using a personal smartphone or MarComm video/photography equipment. Attend project-relevant meetings. Provide student perspective and feedback on School of Public Health marketing materials and campaigns. Provide as-needed event support, including setup, staffing, and teardown. Depending on skills and interest, may contribute to additional projects including graphic design and writing.
