Job Description

The Membership Table Ambassador will manage the Alumni Association membership table during Summer Orientation morning programming. This position will share information with students and families about Alumni Association membership offerings, benefits, and student-rate opportunities.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys talking with people, sharing information, and helping students and families learn how to stay connected to the Michigan alumni community.

Communication Skills

  • Representing an organization in a positive way

Leadership and Campus Involvement

These roles allow students to serve as welcoming representatives of the Michigan community. They will help create a positive first impression for incoming students and their families during an important transition to campus life.

Alumni Association Connection

Students will gain a better understanding of the Alumni Association, its role on campus, and the benefits available to students, families, and alumni. They will also have the chance to connect with Alumni Association staff and learn more about alumni engagement.

Resume-Building Experience

This position provides experience that can be added to a resume, especially for students interested in:

Community Impact

Job Requirements
  • Welcome students, families, and parents to the membership table.
  • Share information about Alumni Association membership offerings and perks.
  • Explain available student-rate membership options.
  • Answer basic questions about membership benefits and engagement opportunities.
  • Encourage students and families to learn more about the Alumni Association.
  • Keep the membership table organized, stocked, and visually presentable.
  • Distribute flyers, handouts, or promotional materials as needed.
  • Track engagement or collect information if requested by staff.
  • Represent the Alumni Association in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Comfortable speaking with students, parents, and families.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for the University of Michigan.
  • Ability to clearly explain information and answer basic questions.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional.
  • Previous experience with customer service, tabling, admissions, orientation, or student engagement is helpful but not required.
  • Staff must be available from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on assigned orientation dates.
