As an Arts Initiative Program Assistant, the student employee will assist in planning and implementing programs and services dedicated to engaging students in the arts at the University of Michigan. Program Assistants will help with event/program related marketing and communication; help plan/coordinate student programs, communicate with key program partners; assist with staffing Arts Initiative events; and perform routine administrative tasks related to student services and programs. Arts Initiative typically has two Program Assistants on staff. Program Assistant #1 will work closely with our Communications. Responsibilities include: Collecting and preparing content for our weekly ArtsInfo email Preparing and/or posting content on social media in coordination with Marketing & Communications team. Attending campus arts events as research for content creation for communications channels Helping with promotion of Arts Initiative programming through postering, info fairs, etc. Researching local arts events and arts organizations to feature Doing outreach to and interfacing with student arts organizations, including supporting events like Student Arts Org Summit and Arts Org Fair Collection and entry of data and contribution to administrative aspects of programming Support for other Arts Initiative programs or events as needed
Program Assistant #2 works will work with our grants programs-- The Student Mini-Grant program provides grants to student-initiated arts projects across campus. Responsibilities include:
Reviewing applications and serving on a committee that decides the grant awards. Tracking applications received and awards data from grantees Emailing grant recipients to request feedback and documentation of their projects. Compiling a report of the year's grant recipients and organizing content for the website Creating social media content for Arts Initiative promoting grant-awarded projects events Collection and entry of data and contribution to administrative aspects of programming Support for other Arts Initiative programs or events as needed
We are looking to hire two students to begin in the Fall 2026 semester, and continue through the school year. Summer work may also be available for the right candidate if interested. |
