Job Description

Assist the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) with communications tasks, general office work, and event support.

Duties include:

  • Collaborating with OPA staff to produce and maintain the OPA weekly newsletter using MailChimp, including inputting news, events, and announcements, as well as tracking and scheduling updates for future editions.

  • Supporting the growth of the Postdoc Alumni Network group on LinkedIn by cross-referencing OPA records with postdoctoral alumni profiles and extending invitations to eligible alumni to join the group. Note that these duties may include handling digital material of a sensitive nature.

  • Supporting OPA staff with event logistics, including setting up and cleaning up event spaces, carrying out errands, and other in-house services as needed.

OPA is located in the Rackham Graduate School building, where we offer hybrid work schedules, requiring two days per week on-site with the remaining time being remote. Note that the building will be closed between July 27 and August 7, 2026 and the work will be entirely remote during that time. Hybrid schedule will resume on August 10, 2026.

The position is initially for Summer 2026 starting mid-July. Scheduling is flexible. A likely workload of 10 hours (up to 20 hours) per week pending the candidate’s availability and office needs. Continued employment through Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 semester is contingent upon job performance and available funding.

TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION: email your resume (up to 2 pages), a 1-page cover letter addressing your motivations for joining the OPA team, and the contact information (phone, email, and relationship to the applicant) for three professional references to the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at postdoc-affairs@umich.edu.
