Job Description

The Edward Ginsberg Center is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to provide support for the Center’s work with community-engaged students and student organizations.  The focus of this position is to provide general support to the Ginsberg Center’s student-facing team, with a special focus on encouraging students’ use of the Ginsberg Center’s new building for activities related to community and civic engagement.

 

Primary responsibilities may include:

  • Co-coordinating communication with student organizations promoting Ginsberg Center resources (e.g. space use, consulting and advising services, funding, etc.). 
  • Helping to plan and implement themed convenings for student organization leaders. 
  • Supporting outreach efforts, such as tabling, info fairs, and short presentations.
  • Conducting intake meetings with student organizations not currently connected to the Ginsberg Center.
  • Acting as a “volunteer navigator” for students seeking ways to get involved with community-engaged student organizations or local nonprofits.  
  • Depending on your interests and available time,  there is a possibility of facilitating local service opportunities for students and student groups (or supporting student organizations’ in planning their own).

Job Requirements
  • Experience in student organization involvement and/or community engagement (this could include but is not limited to direct service, civic engagement, community-based research, advocacy, activism, and other forms of community engagement) 
  • Interest in the Ginsberg Center’s mission, including promotion of social change for the public good, developing student leadership, and best practices around community engagement.
  • Communication skills including writing, speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team-based setting and with a wide variety of groups
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to accomplish multiple tasks efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and manage time effectively 
  • Familiarity with design (e.g. Canva) and social media platforms, or enthusiasm for learning
Hourly Rate $17.00/hour
Hours 8.0 hours per week
