Job Description

SERVE Team - Civic Engagement Program Assistant

 

The Edward Ginsberg Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented student to assist with the Ginsberg Center's Civic Engagement initiatives. The Civic Engagement Program Assistant will help develop and execute civic engagement and learning events, engage in promotion and outreach for both the student team and the internal civic engagement working group, support with administrative tasks, and other duties as assigned. In addition, the program assistant will provide general support to the Civic Engagement Manager.

 

Primary responsibilities: 

  • Co-coordinating marketing and communication to promote civic engagement related events and education (e.g. internal and external newsletters, emails, flyers, and other campus communication channels)
  • Helping to plan and implement convenings for student organization leaders
  • Identifying and contacting student organizations that are not yet connected to the Ginsberg Center
  • Conducting outreach and intake meetings with student organizations whose work has an emphasis on civic engagement
  • Providing administrative support for Ginsberg Center programs focused on civic engagement and learning 
  • Creating, editing, and/or sharing educational content on Ginsberg social media channels to promote civic learning and education

Job Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with student organizations and/or civic engagement (including service, civic engagement, community-based research, advocacy, activism) 
  • Communication skills including writing, meeting facilitation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team-based setting and with diverse groups
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to accomplish multiple tasks efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and manage time effectively 
  • Familiarity with marketing and outreach strategies, including design (preferably Canva) and social media platforms (preferably Instagram)
 
Hourly Rate $17.00/hour
Hours 8.0 hours per week
Time Frame Fall/Winter
