Job Description

  3. Hiring for fall 2026/winter 2027. (Students have the opportunity to remain on staff across terms, pending performance reviews.)


Resource Navigators (ResNavs) offer peer-to-peer wayfinding that helps students pinpoint people, places, resources, and opportunities. They research information and provide personalized pathways to internships, academics, networking opportunities, campus community, wellness, and more. When not meeting with or following up on appointments, ResNavs can be found providing well-being breaks in the Unions, working with campus collaborative teams, or providing “expertise” content on socials and the Victor Views blog, as program ambassadors. This group also works with local scholars programs, welcoming incoming cohorts to Michigan.
 

Responsibilities

  • Positively represent the university and its constituents by sharing information about its resources and representative

  • Manage student requests for information and resources in a timely manner, either by email, phone, or in person

  • Support donor-supported scholars program, participating in mentorship activities and up to four in-person events per term

  • Maintain log to determine use and success rates (KPIs)

  • Create topical content, pursuant to campus retention and student success, for social media and website/blog

  • Represent the program at collaborative events and tabling sessions across campus, including welcome and wellness in-person events

  • Attend all-team training sessions during Welcome Week and staff meetings

  • Participate in team work spaces, including Google chat and calendar(s)

  • Hours: minimum of 10 hours per week, not to exceed 15; some in-person work required in the League and/or Pierpont and at in-person events as scheduled by the team

Job Requirements
  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of resource options at U-M and at the college/school levels

  • Able to review a wide range of campus resources and disseminate information succinctly and accurately

  • Experienced at creating content for social media platforms (particularly Instagram) and/or writing magazine-style articles;  photography skills a plus

  • Demonstrates ability to successfully manage time and resources

  • Seeks to be an ambassador for the university, building community by promoting its wide range of resources
