M Dining has established a 6-10 hour per week upper-undergrad/graduate-level intern position that will focus on supporting Culture & Engagement programming in the unit. In this role, the MDining Culture & Engagement Intern will be involved in facilitation, programming, and administrative efforts of the department as well as campus-wide initiatives related to inclusive excellence and belonging where MDining is actively involved.
Responsibilities: Facilitation & Programming – 40% Collaborate closely with M Dining’s Director of Culture & Engagement and the MDining A Place at Our Table Committee on implementing programs that compliment the Culture & Engagement strategic plan, A Place at Our Table, and departmental strategic goals Facilitate training sessions, workshops, and programs that address inclusive excellence in M Dining Support the planning and implementation of an event for UM’s MLK Symposium. Including but not limited to, liaising with guest speakers, space management, event facilitation, and marketing Assist with various projects and initiatives of the department. This includes tasks such as research, writing proposals, facilitating workshops, creating training modules or providing support for multicultural initiatives and programs for M Dining staff and campus partners Facilitate Culture & Engagement onboarding for new MDining staff, as needed, on alternating Mondays from 11:00am - 12:30pm Assist with projects connecting with external partners in Culture & Engagement across collegiate dining and hospitality, and diversity and inclusion programs
Administrative Support – 60% Attend regular meetings with the Culture & Engagement Director & APAOT Committee Assist M Dining’s Employee Resource Groups on projects related to building belonging at M Dining, scheduling meetings, and implementing events Assist with the creation of People Who Feed Us interviews, content for the unit newsletter, and content for the A Place at Our Table website Respond promptly to email communications from the Culture & Engagement Director and other student or professional staff
