Job Description

The Center for Complex Particle Systems (COMPASS) is seeking a motivated student to join our computational research team. This paid position focuses on the further development and consolidation of StructuralGT, a critical software package used by researchers across 9 institutions to translate complex material images (SEM, TEM, and optical) into mathematical graphs. The successful candidate will be responsible for merging software versions into a robust, unified package under the guidance of the Center Director.

Job Requirements

Combine multiple existing versions of StructuralGT (including v1.0 and v3.5.1+) into a single, high-performance

  repository to ensure feature parity and stability.

Work under the guidance of COMPASS PIs and graduate "Power Users" to further implement new software features.

Work under the guidance of COMPASS PIs and graduate "Power Users" to test the software against diverse material

  systems. 

Proficient in Python (knowledge of C++ integration is a plus).

Very Good communication skills for documenting code and participating in peer-led technical training.

Preferred Experience with scientific computing libraries such as NumPy, NetworkX, OpenCV, and Matplotlib.

Hourly Rate $17.00/hour to $26.00/hour
