Job Description

The Center for Academic Innovation (CAI) is offering a paid employment opportunity for the Summer/Fall 2026 term (with potential to continue into the Winter 2027 term) that is available to all University of Michigan undergraduate, graduate, or PhD/JD/Postdoc students. Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a motivated, responsible, and creative student to assist in the creation of a new online short course series, “Always on Brand: Leading with Purpose in a Connected World,” under the direction of School of Information faculty Nicole Sunstrum

Responsibilities: 

Duties may include some or all of the following: 

  • Content creation and revision

  • Assessment creation and revision

  • Quiz creation, testing, and debugging

  • In-Video Quiz (IVQ) creation, testing, and debugging

  • Discussion forum development and organization

  • Video subtitle review and revision

  • Slide creation and review, alongside CAI’s Learning Experience Designer

Educational Value

Students in this role will have the opportunity to work directly with School of Information faculty member Nicole Sunstrum to help bring a new online course to life. This hands-on experience allows students to collaborate with faculty and a multidisciplinary team to transform professional expertise into engaging learning experiences for a global audience. Along the way, students will strengthen their skills in branding, storytelling, written communication, digital media, content creation, and collaboration while gaining insight into how experts communicate complex ideas in accessible and impactful ways. This position is ideal for students interested in communications, branding, marketing, organizational communication, digital media, or related fields who want meaningful experience working alongside faculty and contributing to a high-quality educational product.

Job Requirements

 

  • Interest or experience in communications, branding, marketing, digital media, or organizational communication

  • Familiarity with AI tools, social media platforms, Canva, and digital communication trends

  • Understanding of branding and storytelling

  • Ability to work independently and in teams in a multicultural and collaborative environment

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Comfort working in an environment with rapidly changing requirements and priorities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (specifically Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Folders)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (specifically PowerPoint)

Hourly Rate $17.00/hour to $23.00/hour
