Job Description

Job Summary

This position supports Michigan Engineering’s web accessibility efforts by testing, analyzing, and remediating student-facing course content for CEE 211: Statics and Dynamics to ensure they meet campus requirements. Content for remediation includes homework problems, course notes, and slides. Students will learn and apply best practices for digital accessibility and become pro?cient with technologies that help make digital content accessible, including AI tools. Students will work independently and collaboratively to identify and address accessibility issues in a variety of online technologies, such as Canvas courses, PDFs, Microsoft and Google apps, and/or supplemental documentation. They will also analyze data from their testing and remediation efforts to provide insights on common issues and provide estimates for the time required to bring digital platforms up to accessibility standards. This is a grant-funded position.

Educational Value

This position offers students hands-on experience in digital accessibility, enhancing their technical skills and equipping them with the expertise needed for creating inclusive digital environments. Students will develop pro?ciency with accessibility tools, strengthen their problem-solving abilities, and gain experience in data analysis and report generation. This role prepares students for careers in web development, digital accessibility evaluation, educational technology, user experience design, and compliance roles.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of CEE 211: Statics and Dynamics
  • Ability to accurately and concisely explain Statics and Dynamics course concepts and diagrams
  • Have basic knowledge of accessibility standards or a willingness to learn
  • Are tech-savvy and quick to learn new technologies
  • Are organized and able to take initiative to complete work independently
  • Must be able to complete 4 hours of asynchronous online training
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Familiarity with LaTex is a plus
Hourly Rate $15.00/hour
Hours 8.0 to 10.0 hours per week
