The Adolescent Health Initiative (AHI), through the University of Michigan Health's Community Health Services, is looking for a Digital Accessibility Assistant to join our team. AHI works with youth-serving health care organizations nationwide to transform the health care landscape to optimize adolescent health and well-being. We do this through practice improvement, education, research, and youth and community engagement. Accessibility is health equity. When health information isn't accessible, people with disabilities are locked out of resources that affect their care. The Digital Accessibility Assistant plays a direct part in closing that gap, helping bring AHI's website and materials into ADA compliance (Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) so our health information reaches every health care professional or youth who needs it. AHI and the University of Michigan Health encourage individuals from diverse communities to apply. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Review and update PDF files from the AHI website to meet ADA/Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) accessibility standards, including tagging, alt text, reading order, color contrast, and link verification. • Review and update PowerPoint (PPTX) files for accessibility compliance, including slide structure, alt text, and readable formatting. • Complete AHI-provided accessibility training and apply best practices consistently across materials. • Track progress and maintain an organized log of files reviewed, remediated, and flagged for follow-up. • Identify and document best practices or tips for recognizing redundancies or common updates specific to AHI files. This is a work-study position. Please submit a resume, cover letter, and proof of work-study eligibility to be considered. Proof of eligibility can be a screenshot or picture of your Financial Aid offer, with any sensitive details removed. Please combine all these into one file. The University of Michigan is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants, including protected veterans and individuals with disabilities. |
