Job Description: 

The Walgreen Drama Center hosts many performances throughout the year in our various studio spaces. This position would be support staff for various productions throughout the academic year, working closely with and being supervised by the Studio and Performance Manager (SPM). The job description is as follows: 

Hours: 

Varies Depending on Performance Times.

Tech Week Hours: 

  • Monday-Friday: 6pm-12am 
  • Saturday-Sunday: 12pm-12am

Job duties: 

  • Hours for this position may be scheduled during tech weeks, late night performances, and/or individual events in the Walgreen Drama Center studios. 

  • Serve as an on-site resource to studio users by being present in the room during their reservation time 

  • Answer questions related to the sound or lighting equipment, or direct questions to the SPM as needed. 

    • Assist users with connecting things like communication systems, corded microphones and projections. 

    • Direct more advanced questions about lighting or audio to the SPM as needed. 

  • Check out tools from the SPM toolkit to the approved users. 

  • Assist with moving furniture into approved storage areas.

  • Ensure studio users are abiding by studio policies, including posted house capacity.

  • Assure safe work practices and compliance with fire and safety regulations at all times to foster a culture of safety. 

    • Prepare accident reports when injuries occur, and alert the appropriate staff.

  • Assist with any emergency protocols that may arise including medical emergencies, severe weather, or fire evacuation protocol according to training. 

  • Make sure the back hallway is cleared at the end of the night. 

  • Lock all doors to the Walgreen Drama Center spaces (studios, classrooms, dressing rooms, control booths) at the end of the night. 

  • Assist the SPM as needed with tech week production needs and studio maintenance throughout the year.

Job Requirements
  • Attentive, responsible, and reliable qualities are preferred. 

  • We are looking for students who are communicative and adaptable to a variety of different performance environments. 

  • Must have 8-12 hours of availability on a weekly basis, spread over nights and weekends. Must be available to work late nights. 

  • Must be able to liaise with a variety of different users in the spaces utilizing professional communication skills both to the room occupants and to the Studio and Performance Manager. 

  • Technical theatre or performance production experience is preferred for this position. - A work study award is required at this time.

Hourly Rate $17.00/hour
