Job Description

Working title: Michigan Medicine Student Fundraiser

Michigan Medicine (MIMed) Student Fundraisers connect with prospective donors over the phone to advocate for philanthropic support.

We are seeking students who demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, empathy, and discretion. This role may involve sensitive conversations and access to confidential information, so successful candidates must be able to communicate respectfully, maintain appropriate boundaries, protect privacy, and handle sensitive matters with care and integrity.

Students receive training and ongoing coaching from experienced student leaders and staff. Through this training, Student Fundraisers learn how to engage prospective donors in meaningful conversations, ask thoughtful questions, listen actively, respond with empathy, and communicate the impact philanthropic support has on patient care, research and medical school education at Michigan Medicine.

Because this role involves conversations with patients and donors, and access to their demographic and giving information, candidates must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and understand that call and constituent information may not be shared outside the scope of their work. Successful candidates will demonstrate sound judgment, emotional intelligence, respect for privacy, and the ability to navigate sensitive conversations with professionalism and care.
