Job Description

iCode Ann Arbor is seeking part-time STEM & Technology Instructors to lead small, hands-on technology classes for elementary, middle, and high school students.

Our students learn by building and creating. Programs include coding, robotics, game development, AI, 3D design, and other hands-on STEM projects. Depending on the program, instructors may also work with emerging technology, including our programmable humanoid robot.

Instructors are provided with curriculum, equipment, and training. This is a teaching role, not simply a supervision position.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Lead or support regularly scheduled STEM and technology classes.

• Teach structured iCode curriculum and guide students through hands-on projects.

• Explain technical concepts in ways students can understand.

• Keep students engaged and help them work through technical challenges and frustration.

• Manage classroom behavior, pacing, transitions, and students learning at different speeds.

• Prepare classroom materials and equipment before class and leave the room organized afterward.

• Get to know students and help them build confidence as their skills develop.

• Communicate professionally with parents and iCode staff when needed.

• Participate in paid training and curriculum preparation.

School-year classes are scheduled Monday through Friday between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM and Saturdays between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Individual class times are staggered within those windows, and instructors are not expected to be available for the entire time period.

Some instructors may teach one regularly scheduled class each week while others may teach several. At minimum, instructors must be able to commit to at least one regularly scheduled weekly class for the school-year program.

Additional hours may be available for school-break camps, teacher professional-development and school-closure days, workshops, special programs, birthday parties, AI Studio, and other programming as enrollment grows.

This is an in-person position at iCode Ann Arbor, conveniently located just off I-94 and Ann Arbor-Saline Road.

Educational Value

This role provides hands-on experience in leading a classroom, managing groups of students, and delivering structured instruction. Employees will develop practical skills in communication, leadership, problem-solving, and working with children in a professional environment.

This is especially valuable for students interested in education, engineering, computer science, psychology, or youth development. Strong performers will gain experience running a classroom independently and may have the opportunity to continue as instructors during the school year.

Job Requirements

• Able to complete required paid training and curriculum preparation.

• Must successfully complete a background check.

Experience working with children through camps, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, teaching, babysitting, scouting, youth programs, or similar activities is strongly preferred.

Experience with coding, robotics, game development, 3D design, AI, engineering, digital media, or other technology is a plus, but it is not required.
