Job Description
Are you passionate about creating engaging videos, telling meaningful stories, and using digital media to build community and foster success among STEM students at the University of Michigan? Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) is looking for a creative and collaborative Video Content Creator to join our student leadership team.
 
 
Educational Value

Gain Skills in Video Content Leadership

You will:

  • Be the primary student leader for video content planning, video pitch ideas, and video production.

  • Collaborate with WISE staff to establish content priorities and production schedules.

Gain Skills in Video Production

You will:

  • Plan, film, edit, and publish engaging short-form videos for WISE's digital platforms.

  • Create content that showcases WISE events, student experiences, STEM opportunities, and community programs.

  • Produce a variety of content including:

    • Event recaps

    • Student spotlights

    • Day-in-the-life features

    • Educational and informational videos

    • Interviews with students, alumni, faculty, and staff

    • #Trending and creative social media videos

  • Ensure videos align with WISE's mission, brand, and accessibility standards.

Gain Skills in Event Coverage

You will:

  • Attend WISE events to capture high-quality video footage.

  • Conduct brief interviews and gather behind-the-scenes content.

  • Create recap videos and highlight reels following events.

 

Gain Skills in Creative Planning & Storytelling

You will:

  • Participate in bi-weekly pitch meetings to brainstorm content ideas that engage current STEM students, faculty/staff, alumni, and the broader WISE community.

  • Stay informed on latest video trends across Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn and adapt them for WISE.

  • Develop content calendars and production timelines.

  • Collaborate with WISE staff and student interns/mentors to support marketing campaigns through video storytelling.

Gain Skills in Community Engagement & Analytics

You will:

  • Help evaluate video performance using platform analytics.

  • Recommend improvements based on engagement data and audience feedback.

  • Contribute ideas that strengthen WISE's digital presence and student engagement.

Job Requirements
We're looking for students who have:
  • Interest in supporting students in STEM and helping students feel connected and empowered.
  • Created short-form video content for social media or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with video editing software.
  • Demonstrated storytelling skills.
  • 1+ years of experience working collaboratively with a creative team.
  • Interest in mentoring peers and helping others develop their creative skills.
  • Familiarity with Instagram Reels and current social media trends.
Hourly Rate $15.50/hour
Hours 4.0 to 6.0 hours per week
