In connection with the U-M Transfer Bridges to the Humanities program [link] to TB2H page/news article], the Sweetland Center for Writing seeks 2 graduate students with experience in writing instruction and/or tutoring to work 1-2 days per week in the writing centers at Schoolcraft Community College (1 available position - in person), and Henry Ford Community College (1 available positions - in person, with possibility for virtual tutoring). Compensation is $25/hour, with the possibility of using a university car for the commute to Schoolcraft and Henry Ford College, or reimbursement for mileage if using personal means of transportation.

At Schoolcraft, you will tutor undergraduate students taking English and first-year writing courses in the Writing Support Studio and work with the Studio director to assist in training undergraduate writing tutors. This position requires in-person availability.

At Henry Ford College, you will provide writing support to undergraduate students in the Writing Center, many of whom are enrolled in English Composition and/or ESL writing classes. Candidates with experience working with multilingual writers are strongly encouraged to apply. This position requires in-person availability.

The position at Schoolcraft does not require specialized training but does require social skills and dependability. Some background with tutoring writing and/or teaching writing (or another subject) is strongly encouraged.

The position at Henry Ford requires social skills, dependability, and background with tutoring writing and/or teaching writing. Experience with English Language learners is strongly encouraged.
