Overall Goal of the Position The goal of this student position is to support the Injury Prevention Center, so students will gain skills in building practical, organized, and sustainable data systems that improve tracking, reporting, event planning, project management, and team coordination across the Center’s core activities. |

Job Requirements |
Required Qualifications Current student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, computer science, information, public health, statistics, engineering, business, or a related field. Interest in data systems, data management, workflow design, or process improvement. Experience using spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and follow through on assigned tasks. Ability to communicate clearly with staff, faculty, and team members. Willingness to learn new software tools and data management processes. Experience with one or more of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Airtable, REDCap, Qualtrics,
Experience cleaning, merging, or organizing data from multiple sources. Familiarity with databases, dashboards, or project management systems. Interest in public health, injury prevention, research operations, or grant-funded programs. Experience creating documentation, templates, or standard operating procedures. Experience with basic automation or workflow tools.
Desired Skills Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to translate messy information into organized systems. Comfort working with both data and people. Curiosity and willingness to ask questions. Ability to manage multiple small projects or tasks. Attention to usability — creating systems that are easy for others to use. Interest in improving processes and reducing manual work.
The student temporary employee may assist with projects such as: Creating a centralized spreadsheet or database for Center activities. Building a student tracking system for internship applicants, trainees, mentors, projects, and outcomes. Cleaning and organizing Qualtrics application data for easier review. Developing a dashboard to summarize events, meetings, publications, grants, and membership. Creating reusable project milestone templates. Building task lists and deadline trackers for team members. Designing event planning checklists that automatically calculate due dates. Helping document workflows so staff can maintain systems after implementation.
