Job Description

The Communications Coordinator & Administrative Intern (or Associate, depending on previous professional experience) will be a graduate student responsible for: 

  • Curating social media and website content in support of strategic projects for the CREATE Center in the Marsal Family School of Education
  • Working with the CREATE team to plan and update website content, social media content, and email marketing content on platforms such as Instagram, Youtube, and MailChimp 
  • Managing social media platforms and designing innovative online campaigns aimed at engaging a broad community of educational scholars, students, activists, community-based organizers 
  • Providing administrative assistance and clerical help such as data entry, data management, email correspondence, and analytics review related to a variety of CREATE programming and/or research projects.

CREATE Center student employees will learn about and contribute to the inner workings of a research center at the University of Michigan that is committed to social  justice, equitable and transformative education, and scholarship for the public good. Student employees will also hone a variety of professional skills such as collaboration, verbal and written communication, organization, and social media planning and management.

 

Job Requirements

Qualifications for the position include: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Experienced with, and highly skilled at, designing and curating social media and website content across multiple platforms 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Experience working with teams and prior demonstration of high productivity, flexibility, creativity, trustworthiness, and collegiality 
  • Ability to manage several ongoing or weekly tasks and wisely prioritize those tasks while working independently 
  • Punctuality, good attention to detail, and dependability in meeting deadlines 
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Office suite and/or database querying tools as well as file management software (e.g., Google Drive, UMBox)
  • Experience assisting with project management and being solution-oriented
  • Ability to protect private information and confidential material with high integrity ? Strong commitment to supporting the Center’s equity-oriented mission. 

Desired experience includes: 

Previous experience working within education, social work, social services, and/or within community-based or non-profit arenas.
